Transfer 12 Week 6, April 25, 2011

Well, Terry (our baptism for Saturday) didn't come to church yesterday, and so unfortunately his date has dropped, though we weren't feeling good about the date anyhow. Terry hasn't been catching what we've been teaching him, and he needs just a little more time. I won't be here to see him get baptized, but I know one day he will.

For this week, since we don't have any dates lined up, I think we'll set some. That sounds good, doesn't it? Setting some dates my last week. I rather like the idea.

There's nothing all that fun or exciting to report about last week. Sister Turner and I kinda had a "trunkie" week. We did work, but after about two door slams, we went to where we knew we would be liked and the people there love us. Oh! though yesterday one of our investigators thinks that I'm stealing things from her. It's sad that she's ninety and she can't trust the Mormons.

Yesterday we had dinner with the Rosses (the family that we live with), and we went and saw Evelyn. And of course, went to church. I'm not sure how this week is going to be, since this past week has been pretty "trunkie."

Oh mom, I only need two talks then I'll have 70. :)

Transfer 12 Week 5, April 18, 2011

Dear mom/Family,

I've been thinking that if y'all comment/talk about me coming home aka being trunkie I wouldn't write. And well . . . . y'all have been so . . . this is all ya get. I'm doing good though.

Transfer 12 Week 4, April 11, 2011

This past week we set a date! Only thing is he isn't in our area, but who cares, right?

Here's the story:
I was talking with Terry (Baptism date), our now nightly thing is to check up on his reading, and he handed the phone over to Rick. At first I was a little irritated because I wanted to talk with him, not Rick, but Rick was now on the line and I should talk with him. I asked Rick how he liked "The Restoration" DVD. He said he liked it, and the Spirit prompted me to ask Rick if he would be baptized. Rick continued to talk, I guess I was kinda fighting the prompting because I was thinking: He's not in our area, not even our zone, I shouldn't ask him if he wants to be baptized, I'd be treading on so many toes. Well, the Spirit didn't let up, so I followed President Hutchings's counsel and went left*. I asked him to be baptized. I was thinking April 30th at first, but it didn't seem quite right, so I flipped the next page of my calender and May 7th popped out. Rick's gonna be baptized May 7th.

*When the Spirit tells you to do something, do it, so go left when the Spirit says go left.*

I'll write more once I get Mom's email.

I don't think you've told us about Terry. (Male, female, and baptism date when?) Share the deets!
Terry is a guy, April 30th.

Transfer 12 Week 3, April 4, 2011

Dear Family,

What did you do to see Conference and how much did you get to see?
We (the missionaries) went to the Franklin Stake Center (our church building) to watch Conference. There were four sets of missionaries at the church. There's the Zone Leaders, our fearless District Leader and his comp., the Spanish elders, and of course, the Carnton Sisters.

Do you get any on TV or do you go to a church building to watch?
Church, though it would have been nice to see it on TV with a family in the ward with Terry. Though at the church on Sunday there were a lot more people there.

Last week you mentioned Evelyn, but I don't think you've mentioned her before. Is she an investigator? How's it going with her?
She's kinda an investigator. She's come along way since the first sisters met her. Before, with the first set of sisters, she wouldn't let them talk about religion, now we've read some of the Book of Mormon with her. How cool?

Any new prospects?
Not really, we're always in that process though, you know mom, and everyone else who's served a mission.

We'd love to hear anything interesting you have to share with us!
Terry came to General Conference and liked it. The seven elders went up to him afterward and asked him how he liked it. It was really cool.

Right now it's raining and thundering and it's really cool.

Transfer 12 Week 2, March 28, 2011

Dear Momma/Family,

Sneaky, going up to the mission office during transfers. But when you live so close, who can blame you?
Well, we didn't go to Brentwood, we stayed in Franklin---we went to our church building for Real Plays (Elder Neubert told us to go, so we did). President Hutchings has told us that when our priesthood leaders tell us to go left, we go left, and that's what Sister Turner and I did. Elder Neubert told us to be at the church at 10:30 for "Real Plays" and we went left. haha.

It's sad to hear about Uncle Cecil. I don't like how everyone is dying on my mission. I guess, it's to show how important the gospel really is. This past week Sister Turner lost her uncle too. Why is everyone dying? That's one question I'd like to have answered.

Not much has happened this week. We saw Evelyn, the usually stuff.

Sorry this email isn't much, I can't think of what else to say.

Oh! Read my blog! Angie's Blog http://atothengela.blogspot.com/

Transfer 12 Week 1, March 21, 2011

Dear Family,

It's the start of my last transfer. This past week both Sister Turner and I were not feeling good, in fact I threw-up three time within a short period of each other.

Since it's the start of a new transfer, I suppose I should tell you the news. The TNM is getting two cities from the TKM [Tennessee Knoxville Mission], Crossville, and Jamestown. I, however, am not going to either of those cities for the last part of my mission. I will be staying here in Franklin, and the one to "kill me off" will be Sister Turner (this will be her second time in a row). The only person I've kinda "killed off" would be Sister Dickson when she went traveling for a couple of weeks.

Transfer 11 Week 6, March 14, 2011

2011
Dear Mom/Family,

This week has gone by so fast! In fact this transfer has gone by super fast. No mum, it's hard to believe that my time here in the great Tennessee Nashville Mission is almost over, that I only have 6 more weeks before my time is up.

This past week has kinda gone by in a blur as well. I suppose it feels like it because I went to Dickson for a coupler days with Sister Vincent. We had a scripture study class at the church and a lot of the members did a double-take! (secretly I was so happy). I would say “hi” to someone and they'd reply thinking nothing of it (or at least that's what it seemed like) and would take another look to see if what they had seen was correct.

When I came back to Franklin we helped someone get more organized; we helped put up shelving units so that she would have a place to put things. Whilst configuring one of the units Sister Turner hurt her hand. I'll send the pictures next week if I remember to bring my camera with me.

Well, I love yer guts, and visit my blog: http://atothengela.blogspot.com/
